New Adventure

Posted on Sat Aug 14th, 2021 @ 7:37am by Commander Devon Hunt

Mission: Establishing a base
Location: Avalon-B
Timeline: Current

Devon Hunt sat on the couch in the guest quarters with his family as the USS Avalon-B arrived at Starbase Pegasus. The Avalon-B was one of several ships transporting supplies and personnel to the new Starbase. Both children had been on the floor playing with their toys when they suddenly ran over to the window. "Daddy is this Pegasus?"

"Yes baby girl this Pegasus," Devon answered as he joined the two.

Anthony the younger of the two simply stared out the window. "So what are we supposed to do there?"

"Well school for starters," a female voice responded while exiting the bedroom. Anya joined her husband and children the window. "Living on a Starbase will be different. But I like the fact that we'll be in a more stable environment this time around. Plus there will be plenty of children your age to play with."

"Your mother is right," Devon agreed. "There is definitely something on Pegasus for all of us. Its not Earth and I know you both had to leave your friends behind, but I promise that this won't bad at all."

Anya sighed a bit. "I still have concerns with this joint venture with the Romulans and the Klingons. The Federation working with one of them is tough enough. But dealing with both is a stretch if you ask me."

"Honey, I share your concerns. But the Romulans are members of the Federation now. Which means they're with us and we have to trust them. Regardless of the things we been through in the past. Since joining the Federation the Romulans have given us no real issue for concern."

"And the Klingons?"

"The Klingons are little more difficult," the Commander admitted. "But I believe that this is the right time to bridge that gap."

"Devon Hunt always optimist," Anya joked. "Perhaps you should have rejoined Starfleet as a Diplomat."

He leaned over and kissed his wife on the lips. "The galaxy is not ready for my type of diplomacy."

A few minutes later the Avenger class starship docked in Starbase Pegasus. The family grabbed their belongings and exited the guest quarters. Soon they found themselves among the crowd of Starfleet personnel and their families exited the ship and entering the Starbase. Anthony quickly found himself distracted by the other and just as he began wondering off his mother took hold of his hand. His older sister simply laughed and he was getting pulled along.

"Stop laughing at your brother," her mother instructed.

"Yes mama."

Devon looked down at Jasmine, smiled and winked. Looking up at her father, the girl returned the smile and winked as well. Reaching the quartermaster the family stood and line, waiting for their turn in line.

"Being in Starfleet involves a lot of waiting around," said Jasmine impatiently. "For an organization that's been around for hundreds of year you think there would be a much better method."

"This clearly is your child," Anya sighed. "Sweetheart this where you need to develop some patience. The man up ahead as a very important job and don't need to be rushed."

"Jas is right. This is taking so long."

The mother took a deep breath. "Just think of this as an adventure."

"Exactly," the father spoke up. "Think of this as an obstacle. With a prize at the end."

Upon reaching the front of the , Devon checked in with the quartermaster and was a PADD. "Let's get going. We have quite the adventure ahead of us."
